Trio of EFL Awards nominations for MK Dons as Warne, Paterson and Silver up for gongs

The trio of nominees will discover whether they have won later this month

Three nominations for EFL awards means MK Dons are doing something right, but Paul Warne admits he does not think he will be leaving with the Manager of the Season trophy.

The head coach has been nominated for the League Two manager’s award alongside Bromley’s Andy Woodman, Oldham boss Mickey Mellon and Cambridge chief Neil Harris.

Meanwhile Dons’ top-scorer Callum Paterson is amongst the nominees for League Two Player of the Season, contending with Bromley pair Mitch Pinnock and Omar Sowumni and Swindon Town's Aaron Drinan.

A third nomination has come the way of Rian Silver for EFL Apprentice of the Season, an award won by Callum Tripp in 2024. He is up against Ollie Dewsbury (Bristol Rovers) and Mamadou Diallo (Cheltenham Town).

The winners will be announced on April 19 at an awards ceremony in London.

Speaking about the nominations, Warne swiftly downplayed his nomination, saying: “We’ll see how many of us win it! If we do, we’ve cracked it but I'm just going to put it out there - I don’t think I’m going to win! But you never know.

“Pato’s been unfortunate to have been out as long as he has, and I’ll be interested to see who gets in the PFA Team of the Year as well. That one always means a lot to the players because that is voted for by the other players.

“I think a few of my players have been nominated for the Team of the Year, so that’s a credit to them. Normally if you’re up for nominations, there is something going well at the club and I do feel like this is a club which is doing well.”

Speaking about teenager Silver’s nomination, academy manager Ben Smith said: “Rian is an outstanding young man. At just 18, he has already shown the kind of character and maturity that sets him apart both on and off the pitch.

“As a young footballer, Rian leads by example. Regardless of being voted Club Captain, he naturally brings people together, encourages his teammates, and holds himself to high standards.

“Off the field, he has been equally committed to his education. He is a credit to his family, his team, and the football club. Rian has been active in the community, taking part in several player appearances, reading to school children and delivering an assembly at his old school.”
