Collins keen to keep playing as Dons hit their marks

The FA Cup will not be a chance for MK Dons to let off the accelerator

Having a break from league action offers the chance for players to be given a break, but Aaron Collins wants to play as often as he can while he is in-form.

The striker cannot stop scoring at the moment, with his four goals against Doncaster on Saturday taking him to 16 for the season already, already double his tally from last season.

Dons don’t play in League One for two weeks now, with next Saturday’s game coming in the FA Cup against League Two side Swindon Town. Paul Warne has hinted at a handful of chances for the game, with Collins keen to keep up his scoring run.

“It doesn’t matter the competition, I want to keep flowing, keep scoring goals,” he said. “We go into the FA Cup this week with a few days of recovery and then hard work, hopefully we get into the next round.

“Cup runs are great for clubs and players. It’s exciting. Then we’ve got the Trophy and back into the league. We want to keep going, and keep that winning feeling.”

While Collins has been white-hot all season, Dons have only really found their feet in the last couple of weeks. The win over Luton in mid-October was their first win in the league, and they have since won three out of four to climb back up the table and stand out as one division’s in-form sides.

While it took time to get that first win, Collins said now the side has found their feet, they are zeroing in on their promotion aspirations laid out at the start of the season.

He continued: “Hopefully, after four wins in five, we kick on now into Christmas and the New Year, push for the play-offs and the automatic spots. We know we’ve got a good enough team to be up there, so we have to believe and kick on.

“It was a slow start but there were positives. We didn’t lose a lot, we just couldn’t win. That winning feeling is just different. We’ve now got four wins in five, we’ve got that winning feeling and we don’t want to let it go.

It’s positive. We want to be in the top half, we want to stay there, that’s what we’ve got to look at as a team now.

“We always stayed positive. We knew what we could do and we’re showing it.”
