Waller joins Worthing on three-month loan deal

The 21-year-old has gone back to the National League on loan

Defender Charlie Waller has agreed to join National League side Worthing on loan until December.

The 21-year-old has not played for MK Dons in over a year, last featuring in the Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol City in August 2025.

He spent a month on loan at Rochdale and then a spell at Wealdstone last season, making 12 appearances in the campaign.

After featuring in pre-season for Paul Warne’s side, the centre-back has not been in a matchday squad since the League One season got underway, falling further down the pecking order after the signing of Everton’s Eli Campbell on loan.

Adam Hinshelwood’s side currently sit 16th in the National League, with two wins and a draw to their name from their opening six games.

Upon signing Waller, the Rebels boss said: “Charlie is an exciting prospect who operates as a left sided defensive player, which will allow us to play with a back three in certain games should we choose to do it.

“Another individual with National League experience will ensure we are better equipped for future matches.”

Explaining the decision to allow Waller out on loan, Dons sporting director Liam Sweeting added: “Charlie has had a really good pre-season and the next important step for him is to put together another consistent run of competitive minutes.

“We have a very competitive squad here, so we feel this is the right opportunity for Charlie to go and play regularly and continue his development.

“Minutes are really important for Charlie at this stage. The opportunity with a club that has been patient and persistent in trying to bring him in gives him the chance to play, build momentum and put together a run of games.”

Waller’s paperwork has been signed in time for the youngster to be eligible to feature in tonight’s National League Cup match against Norwich City U21s at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium.
