George Williams wants the 2,000 MK Dons supporters to help give them an advantage over Peterborough on Tuesday night.

Supporters returned to Stadium MK a week ago for the Papa John's Trophy win over Norwich City U21s and for their first league game in nine months on Saturday for the 1-1 draw with Burton Albion.

Matches between Dons and Peterborough have been fiercely contested on the pitch and in the stands down the years, especially when the sides were battling for promotion together. But with only 2,000 allowed into Stadium MK on Tuesday night - fewer fans than were in the away end for the game last season - defender Williams hopes the fans who are allowed to go will give the home side an edge.

He said: "There won't he thousands and thousands on Tuesday night, and we miss it, but it's a derby game so I'm sure they'll be shouting a little bit louder. We're looking forward to it.

"The fans coming back was really good – having them give you a round of applause for the warm-up was a really nice feeling. We did miss it, so it's brilliant to have them back.

"Peterborough are a good side, they always are in League One. We've always had good games against them as well, and we tend to do well against good teams as well, so I'm sure it will be a great game to watch, and to play in. We'll work hard, iron a few things out and be ready."
