Best job ever? Milton Keynes housebuilder on hunt for ‘archi-tot’ to design future homes

A Milton Keynes housebuilder has created an exciting new job role and is recruiting for an ‘archi-tot of the future’.   

Redrow South Midlands, which is currently building at Woburn View in Woburn Sands, is calling on the city’s youngsters to design a house suitable for 2126 – some 100 years from now.  

Whether it’s wallpaper that changes depending on your mood, a fridge that restocks automatically or a bathroom that cleans itself, the design must suit the needs of ultra-modern family life while being energy efficient and built sustainably.  

The role is open to four-to-16-year-olds across the region, who will need to submit their ‘house of the future’ design to [email protected].

As well as a prize of £100, the winning archi-tot’s school or college will receive £150 in artwork vouchers. The winner will see their design placed in a time capsule and buried in the ground at Woburn View, ready to be unearthed in a century’s time.

Imaginative youngsters across the region have until midnight on Friday 16 October to submit their entries. The winner will join other successful archi-tots chosen by Redrow regions across the UK, with one overall champion to be announced later this year.

“What better way to celebrate the talent of local youngsters and showcase the wonderful creative abilities of the next generation? Who knows, the winner could become an apprentice with us in the future, where they might find themselves building new homes.”
