The Raising Voices StoryMap now features almost 100 pieces of poetry, flash fiction and creative non-fiction inspired by and linked to places and spaces around the city of Milton Keynes. On 19-20 September 2026, the StoryMap will be on display at Arts Central Studios for the 2026 Heritage Open Days. See some of our favourite pieces, and take part in activities prompting you to write your own MK story. It’s part of Arts Central Studios’ vibrant HODs exhibition - an exciting, eclectic showcase, with tours available to meet participating artists.

On 29 October, beloved international bestseller Victoria Hislop comes to Waterstones Milton Keynes with unforgettable and riveting new novel, The Wine-Dark Sea, exploring the turbulence of the post-war era in Greece.

The Festival’s final online event of 2026 on Thursday 3 December delves into the cultures and contexts of Sudan, Japan and Guyana. In Together Not Alone, poets Alexandra Corrin-Tachibana, Mary Mulholland and Sue Wallace-Shaddad offer an international perspective, exploring family and war, love and language, and roots and trauma.

Local writers have until 18 January 2027 to submit their writing for the MinK2027 Creative Writing Competition on the theme of ‘In These Shoes’, with prizes for winning entries and publication in the seventh volume of the Festival’s wonderful #MinK anthologies. This will be launched at the Spring Festival, taking place between 7 and 11 April: full details will be announced on our website.

For more info visit the Festival website at www.mklitfest.org, follow the Festival on Facebook, X, Bluesky, Instagram or Threads, or sign up for their newsletter.
