Bedford-based singer-songwriter, artist and producer Kris Wilkinson Hughes, known as My Girl The River, is set to celebrate the release of her fourth album, Manifest Good Things, with a special full-band performance at The Stables in Milton Keynes, on Friday 4 September.

The concert coincides with the album's official release and will see My Girl The River performing the songs live.

Manifest Good Things is a richly textured collection that draws on folk, Americana, roots, rock and 1970s Laurel Canyon influences, combining melodic songwriting and memorable hooks with Hughes' distinctive, intimate vocal style.

Recorded at Saltwell Studio in Cambridgeshire, the album has an organic, live-band feel. Hughes is joined by musicians including husband Joe Hughes on bass and daughter Rue Hughes on backing vocals, alongside a remarkable line-up of collaborators from the UK, Nashville and beyond.

Among those contributing to the record are George Marinelli, known for his work with Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Dale McFadden of The Mavericks and guitarist Steve Lee.

The album also represents a significant milestone for My Girl The River as her first-ever vinyl release, following a successful crowdfunding campaign that helped make the project possible.

Hughes describes Manifest Good Things as her "best collection of songs to date" with themes centred on hope, change, connection and appreciating the people who help us through life.

“Every track means something to me and together they tell a story about finding hope, embracing change and appreciating the people who walk alongside us,” says Kris.

The album has already attracted strong early reviews. R 'N' R Magazine awarded it a 5+ review, describing it as a collection of songs that is “strong on hooks” and “beautifully delivered,” while Americana UK's Andrew Frolish praised the album's single Heavy as an anthem for resilience.

My Girl The River has previously received airplay on BBC Radio Three Counties, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Three Counties Radio and Times Radio, and has toured with artists including Kim Richey and Suzanne Vega. The band has also been selected to perform at Americana UK's 25th anniversary festival in Liverpool later this year on the main stage.

The Stables performance will form part of a wider UK tour supporting Manifest Good Things, with dates taking the band to Brighton, London, the Isle of Wight, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Liverpool.
