Urban&Civic, the master developer behind the Fairfields community, has been granted planning permission for the temporary community building, which will be on the former Barratt Homes compound behind Tesco Express.

The new facility will be operated and managed by Fairfields Community Council and is aimed at providing a flexible, managed space for the local community as part of Urban&Civic’s commitment to making sure people in the area have everything they need within reach, without having to travel miles from where they live.

The modular building will be constructed off-site and delivered to its new home in Fairfields, which will be accessed from Minerva Drive. With planning permission granted, Urban&Civic now hopes to deliver the facility by the autumn of this year.

James Mooney, Project Director at Urban&Civic said: “This is another step in making sure Fairfields has the facilities its community needs as it grows. We're delighted to be working with Fairfields Community Council and Milton Keynes City Council in delivering something flexible and practical that we hope will make a real difference to local residents. We're aiming to have it ready by autumn and can't wait to see it in use.”

Cllr Jake Bloomfield, Chair of Fairfields Community Council, added: “This temporary facility is a positive step forward for Fairfields and provides an opportunity and space for the community to come together.

“We look forward to seeing it on site and the exciting opportunities it will present while we await our more permanent home!"
