Historic Milton Keynes police station and courthouse goes to market in rare find

A Grade II listed former courthouse and police station has come to market in Milton Keynes, with historic roots dating back over 150 years ago.

The Old Court House at 19 Market Square lies in the historic town of Stony Stratford, and dates back to the 1860s.

The red-brick listed building was originally built as a police station and courthouse for petty sessions, housing a courtroom, magistrates’ chambers and holding cells.

It now offers office accommodation arranged over its two floors, and has gone to market with property agents, BTG Eddisons, who are inviting offers of around £650,000. Its period detailing and architecture is a reminder of its historic roots and original role in the town.

Senior surveyor at BTG Eddisons, Nick Bosworth, said: “The Old Court House is a distinctive property in a prominent position at the heart of Stony Stratford, combining an interesting history with an established town-centre location.

“Buildings of this character rarely come to the market.”

The 2,548 sq ft property features a mixture of open-plan and cellular offices, with kitchenettes and WC facilities on both floors. It includes gas-fired radiator central heating, and comes with smoke, fire and intruder alarms.

Its Market Square location gives easy access to nearby amenities including retailers, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

Car parking is available directly outside the property on the Market Square, and the property also benefits from access to the A5 and mainline railway stations at Wolverton and Milton Keynes. Central Milton Keynes is a short drive away.
