Police re-appealing for information as part of investigation into rape and attempted rape in Milton Keynes

Police are re-appealing for information as part of an investigation into a rape and an attempted rape in Milton Keynes.

Thames Valley Police issued an appeal on October 15 after receiving a report that a woman in her thirties was raped by a man on a redway by the pedestrian bridge between Conniburrow and Milton Keynes between 8.30pm and 9pm on Thursday September 10.

Officers then received a second report of an incident on Wednesday September 23 in which a man attempted to rape a woman in her fifties around 9.20pm on a redway in Conniburrow.

As part of their investigation, police arrested two men, aged 22 and 19, both from Milton Keynes, on suspicion of rape and attempted rape.

Both men have been released from police custody on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

As part of their re-appeal, police are asking anyone who lives in the Conniburrow, Bradwell, Bradwell Common, Linford Wood and Heelands areas and any areas on the map to get in touch if they have ring doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage of a man on a bicycle between 8pm and 11pm on September 23.

Detective Inspector Graeme Williams said: “We appreciate that news of these incidents will have caused concern to local residents, and I would like to reassure you that we are following every line of enquiry available to us in order to bring whoever is responsible to justice.

“Both women are being supported by officers and we remain in contact with them.

“Based on the information available to us at the current time, we do not believe these incidents to be linked to any other offences in the area.

“Since these incidents were first reported to us we have been carrying out a range of comprehensive enquiries, including house to house and CCTV scoping in the area.

“In addition to the appeal we issued last week, which included an image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with these incidents, we would now like to hear from anyone with ring doorbell footage that may have captured him between the hours of 8pm and 11pm on 23 September in the areas pictured on the attached map.”

Information can be reported by contacting police via the 101 number quoting the reference 43260474579, or by contacting the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 08000 555 111.
