Police use Crimewatch live show to boost hunt for Milton Keynes man on run from 15-year sentence for killing his baby daughter

Thames Valley Police’s search for a Milton Keynes man who killed his seven-month-old daughter by dangerous driving has featured on the BBC’s Crimewatch Live programme today (Monday).

Emmanuel Sakyi, aged 31, of Garraways in Milton Keynes, has been on the run from police since June 29, when he failed to appear in court for his trial, after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Sakyi’s daughter Emmanuela, who was aged seven months old, was a passenger in a grey Peugeot 508 which was involved in a head-on collision with a green Fiat 500 in December 2022.

The car was being driven by Sakyi, who was driving on the wrong side of the road, and more than two and a half times the drink drive limit, when the collision happened between Bond Avenue roundabout and Fenny Lock roundabout.

Police said Emmanuela died from injuries that she sustained because she was not appropriately secured in a seat in the vehicle.

Following the collision, Sakyi fled the scene on foot and was later arrested by police outside of his home address.

Sakyi did not appear at court in June, when he was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for causing death by dangerous driving.

Despite a reward for £7,500 being offered by the Crimestoppers charity for information that leads to Sakyi’s arrest has not yet been located by police.

Sakyi is described by police as a black man with a medium build, with black hair and brown eyes and is around 5ft 3ins tall.

Superintendent Euan Livingstone and Detective Sergeant Ed Crofts appeared on the daytime BBC TV programme to speak to presenter Michelle Ackerley about their search for Sakyi.

Speaking on Crimewatch Det Supt Livingstone said: “Emmanuel Sakyi has last seen on Friday June 19, which was the Friday before his trial was due to start.

“He failed to turn up for this trial and was reported missing by his landlady on Monday 22. The information we had was he had travelled to Birmingham and our investigation supports this is the last time he was seen.

“He is known to change his hairstyle and has a distinctive gap between two of his front teeth.

“He is known to frequent the Milton Keynes, Luton, Hemel Hempstead, Coventry and Wembley areas.

“We know he has previously worked in cash in hand jobs, and has links to the Ghanaian community, so if anyone has seen him working, paid him or knows him through the community, if there is anything you can do to support us in our relentless pursuit of him please get in touch.

“We have put a phenomenal amount of work into this investigation to locate Sakyi. We have got specialist officers and have used every tool in the box.

“He chose to take actions which resulted in the death of his own daughter, and we believe that someone knows where he is and where he is hiding and can support us in the investigation to put him in prison.

“We think there are small bits of information which could be the key to us and we urge people to come forward and support us in bringing Sakyi to prison.”
