Dons ball number confirmed ahead of FA Cup first round draw
The FA Cup first round draw will be made this evening
While MK Dons prepare for their trip to Blackpool on Tuesday night, they will be keeping an eye on this evening’s FA Cup first round draw.
Keeping an eye out for ball #26, Dons enter the world’s most famous Cup competition looking to surpass their achievements of last season.
In Paul Warne’s first FA Cup campaign with the club, Dons reached the third round stage but were beaten by Championship side Oxford United on penalties, having seen off League Two counterparts Colchester United and Oldham Athletic in the opening two rounds.
Four teams are making their first ever appearance in the first round draw. Seventh tier Berkhamsted beat Southend at Roots Hall to progress into the hat, while AFC Rushden & Diamonds also beat former EFL opposition in the form of Morecambe. Plymouth Parkway and Sholing, both in the seventh tier too, also booked their spot in the first round for the first time, while Wimborne Town are in the draw for the first time since the early 1980s.
For those sides, they are guaranteed £15,800 in prize money for reaching the first round, which could rise to £47,750 should they progress into the second round.
Hosted by Matt Smith, the draw will be made by Martin Keown and Fara Williams and it will be available to watch on TNT Sports 1, HBO Max, and on the TNT Sports YouTube channel. The show will start at 6.30pm and the draw will be made at approximately 6.35pm.
The first round proper will be played around the weekend of Saturday November 7.
