The Patch MK smashes 150,000 meal target with record-breaking food donation
A family-run farm near Milton Keynes has exceeded expectations in its mission to support those in need, providing enough surplus produce to help deliver 157,462 meals to disadvantaged communities.
The Patch MK, a popular seasonal attraction known for its pumpkin picking and autumn events, has been working in partnership with food redistribution charity, The Felix Project, to ensure that no pumpkin or squash goes to waste. Last year, the farm set itself an ambitious target of supplying 100,000 meals through donated produce, a milestone they have now far surpassed.
The achievement comes from both strong visitor support and an exceptional growing season in 2025, which has allowed the farm to donate large quantities of surplus pumpkins and squash to those who need it most.
Joseph Gurney, who runs The Patch MK with his wife Rosalyn, said: “After working with the Felix Project for a number of years, we always hoped we could reach 100,000 meals, but to go beyond that and reach over 157,000 is something we’re incredibly proud of.

“It’s important to us that everything we grow has a purpose, and being able to support families in need through The Felix Project means a huge amount to us as a business and as a family.”
The Patch MK now has a dedicated space used to grow produce for those in need, and is setting its sights even higher. This year, the farm is aiming for an even higher target of surpassing 200,000 donated meals. Early indications suggest that this goal could be within reach, despite a difficult year for pumpkin growing to extreme temperatures and lack of sufficient rain.
Joseph added: “Warm weather is usually fantastic for pumpkins, they absolutely love the heat, but the lack of rain has been an issue this year as pumpkins require lots of moisture to help them swell to the desirable size. Despite the tricky growing conditions, we are still hoping to smash the 200,000 meal target this year.”
Since opening, The Patch MK has grown into one of the region’s most popular autumn destinations, attracting thousands of visitors each year to pick pumpkins, enjoy seasonal activities and take part in Halloween events, all while supporting a wider social cause.
