A look ahead to MK Dons' clash with Doncaster Rovers
Previewing MK Dons’ home game with Doncaster Rovers at Stadium MK, kicking off at 3pm
MK Dons could make it three wins in a week with victory on Saturday but will have to see past Doncaster Rovers in order to do so.
Rovers have been something of a bogey team for Dons down the years, with just four wins in 20 attempts against the Yorkshire side.
Doncaster, who have won half of those games, start the day three points adrift of Paul Warne’s side, sitting 18th after their midweek defeat to Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. Like Dons, this will be their fifth game in two weeks, but unlike Dons, their results have been polar opposites. While Dons have won three out of four, Rovers have lost three of four, with their single win coming at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Grant McCann’s side have struggled for points away from home this season, with one win and one draw from six games. However, their record in Milton Keynes is a decent one, with five wins from ten visits to the New City.
The sides last met in 2024/25 when Rovers would go on to secure promotion while Dons would stave off relegation in League Two. An early red card for Harry Clifton put a Dean Lewington-led Dons on course for the win when Ellis Harrison opened the scoring, only for the striker to see red early in the second-half, allowing Rovers to net a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw.
Referee Andrew Humphries will take charge of the game, his ninth outing of the season. So far, he has shown 33 yellow cards, four reds and awarded one penalty. His only game in charge of Dons came last November in a 2-1 win over Fleetwood at Stadium MK, while Doncaster have won one and drawn one with the referee in charge.
Assistants Kevin Howick and Stephen Finch wil run the lines with Fourth Official Abigail Byrne.
