Fitness concerns for four MK Dons regulars ahead of Peterborough clash

Key figures could be in doubt to face Peterborough this weekend

MK Dons are sweating on the fitness of several key players in the lead up to Saturday’s clash with Peterborough United.

Three players picked up knocks in last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Wycombe Wanderers, while defender Charlie Goode was out of the squad entirely after suffering a foot injury against Wigan a few days prior.

Cohen Bramall, Curtis Nelson and Aaron Collins have all missed elements of training this week following the game at Adams Park, with Goode also sidelined ahead of Posh’s visit to MK1.

Head coach Paul Warne said: “Cohen Bramall damaged his ankle, Curtis Nelson damaged his groin, Charlie Goode is coming back from a foot injury, Aaron Collins hurt his ankle, so they’re all waiting to see if we can get them back in time for Saturday.

“Two of them have trained but not the whole session, so we’ll have to see.”

It threatens to leave Dons thinner on the ground than Warne would like heading into Saturday’s game, but there has been positive news from their two deadline day signings.

Neither Ibby Fullah nor Eli Campbell featured in the matchday squad in south Bucks, though the latter, on loan from Everton, warmed up with his new team-mates on the pitch in front of the 1,300 travelling supporters.

The pair also featured in a behind-closed-doors game this week too, with Fullah, on loan from Charlton, netting a couple of goals to peak the interests of his new head coach.

“They’ve only been in for a week really,” Warne said. “They played for the U21s in midweek which gives them more game time, especially Fullah because he’s only trained for about a week in the last five because he’s had an injury. He’s a little, physically, behind the 8-ball. He looked really good in bits, scored two.

“Eli is a lot closer in terms of his fitness, but both have settled in nicely. They’re young men in a old dressing room, so it will do the older players some good listening to young language they don’t understand! I look forward to including them in squads and teams as weeks progress.”
