Milton Keynes road closures: Overnight A509 Newport Pagnell bypass works planned
Drivers in Milton Keynes face overnight closures on part of the A509 Newport Pagnell Bypass as National Grid carries out electricity reinforcement works.
Milton Keynes City Council has issued a temporary traffic order covering the eastbound carriageway between London Road and Renny Park Road from November 2 to 16.
The road will be closed nightly from 8pm until 6.30am, when indicated by traffic signs. A diversion will take drivers via London Road, Portway, Childs Way, Tongwell Street, Standing Way, the A421, A6, B560 and A422.
The closure is among a series of temporary road restrictions announced or confirmed by the council for work across Milton Keynes and surrounding communities.

Elsewhere, National Grid electricity works will affect Green Park Drive in Newport Pagnell, between Kennington Close and Purcel Drive, from October 26 to 30. The diversion will run via Elthorne Way and Alexandra Drive.
In Great Holm, Petworth will be closed between numbers 80 and 86 from October 27 to November 2 while National Grid installs supply cables. No alternative route is specified.
Telecommunications work will also bring closures to several roads. Passenham Road, Passenham, is due to close on October 30 for Openreach work, with traffic diverted via Calverton Road, Horsefair Green, London Road, Queen Eleanor Street and the A422 Stratford Road.
Openreach ducting works are affecting Creslow Court in Stony Stratford, between numbers 8 and 21, from October 26 to 28, and Grassington in Bancroft, between numbers 1 and 4, from October 27 to 30. No alternative routes are specified for either closure.
In Emberton, the slip road on Newport Road between number 8 and Prospect Place will close on October 28, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, for overhead wire transfer work. Drivers will be directed along the main carriageway.
Anglian Water maintenance will lead to daytime closures in two further areas. Blackmoor Gate in Furzton, between Arlington Court and Parkside, will close on November 23 from 8am to 4pm. Montagu Drive in Eaglestone, from its junction with Golden Drive to outside number 12, will close on November 30 from 8am to 5pm.
The council said the restrictions will apply when indicated by appropriate traffic signs.
