New players took time to gel at MK Dons but have now 'turned a corner'
Ten new players were brought in after being promoted to League One
It took MK Dons longer than they would have liked to settle and gel this season, but Charlie Goode believes they have found their way.
The club’s well-documented start to the season saw them draw six out of eight games on their return to League One, but after introducing ten new players in the summer, centre-back Goode admitted it has not been seamless.
It took Paul Warne’s side eight games to finally break their duck, beating Luton Town 2-1 at Stadium MK. Since then, Dons have added two more wins in the last three, seeing off Stevenage and Bromley to climb up to 14th in the table.
“A few of those early games it felt like we weren’t clicking,” Goode admitted. “Against Luton, we went back to basics and it gave us a bit more confidence. Over the coming weeks we’ll keep building.
“It was a tricky period. We were going home with all these draws that felt like losses. We’ve definitely turned a corner, you can feel it.
“I hope everyone can see it clicking too. We’re harder to play against, we’re doing the basics better, we’re looking dangerous at set pieces. These things can change the feel of a game.”
Their winning form of late, five in seven in all competitions, has breathed a new confidence into the squad too, something which Goode, who netted his third goal of the season against Bromley on Tuesday night, believes will put them in good stead heading into a run of home games.
“Winning just breeds confidence,” he continued. “We felt the weight lifted off us after Luton, and I feel like we’re in a really good place.
“We’ve got a lot of home games coming up, so we’ve got to keep winning here and come Christmas, the table can look completely different.”
