Covid vaccine booking line for over 80s currently closed at Milton Keynes Hospital

MK hospital has temporarily closed its booking line for Covid jabs because all appointments are full.

But bosses have today assured people that the vaccination programme will continue as planned in the future.

A message on the hospital's website states: "Appointment slots for those aged 80 or over who are eligible for a Covid-19 vaccination at Milton Keynes University Hospital are currently full. As slots are fully booked, the appointment booking line is currently closed. Anyone phoning the booking line will hear an answerphone message advising them that slots are currently full."

Patients who already have appointments for a first or second Covid-19 vaccination at the hospital should attend as planned.

Meanwhile Covid-19 vaccinations are now available through an increasing number of GP surgeries in Milton Keynes, with patients being called directly to book appointments at those surgeries.

Today Hospital chief executive Joe Harrison tweeted is say the approval is the new Oxford vaccine is "welcome news".

He said: "We have more than 200 patients with Covid-19 in our hospital, double the number of the first peak. Our staff @MKHospital are working phenomenally hard in incredibly difficult circumstances. I know thank you isn’t enough, but thank you #TeamMKUH."
