False legs and wedding dresses: Center Parcs reveals items left behind by guests

A false leg, £5,000 cash, a wedding dress and even a human-sized papier mache chicken are among the weirdest things holidaymakers have left behind after a break at Center Parcs.

Lost property teams across Center Parcs villages deal with 80,000 forgotten belongings every year – with 1,374 items logged at Woburn Forest in just four weeks this summer.

Items range from the predictable swimming gear and goggles, jewellery, clothes and children's toys among the more baffling finds including a complete set of bench-press weights, portable bidet, a set of teeth, baby car seats, a car bumper, and a six-foot Christmas tree.

One guest even carefully hid their wrapped Christmas presents during their stay, only to forget to take them home. Village teams have also found a karaoke machine, an airfryer, and even a glass eye.

Staff are always keen keen to reunite guests with belongings that have sentimental value – especially much-loved children's toys.

And any unclaimed items are sold through regular lost property and staff sales, raising thousands of pounds for charity.

Janine Noble, Head of Guest Experience at Center Parcs, said: “Most of us have come home from holiday and realised we've forgotten something, but some of the things our teams find are certainly harder to explain than others.

"We're still not quite sure how you make it home without false teeth or baby car seats, or how a six-foot Christmas tree is fitting in a car!

“Behind the funny finds, our teams put a huge amount of effort into reuniting people with their belongings and we always give items a second life where possible.”
