Housing group agrees action plan with Woburn Sands resident to tackle issues with damp and mould at property

A housing group has agreed an action plan with a resident in Woburn Sands after she raised concerns about damp and mould at their property.

Charlotte Dixon, who is a housing association tenant at a property on Drayhorse Crescent in Woburn Sands, claimed that her property was beset by ‘severe structural damp and mould.’

Charlotte claimed that black and green moss mould was ‘actively coming through my living room floorboards’ while extensive black mould was ‘covering the wall’ behind her bath.

She has now initiated a formal complaint against her landlord Clarion Housing, with Charlotte claiming the living conditions had caused a deterioration in her health.

“My respiratory symptoms became so severe that I had to have lung function tests to investigate my breathing,” Charlotte said.

Charlotte claimed that Clarion Housing were initially dismissive of her concerns, however when approached by this newspaper a spokesperson for the housing association said: “We’re sorry to hear that the resident in Woburn Sands has been experiencing issues with their home and understand how distressing damp and mould can be.

“We take all reports of this nature seriously and have been working to address the concerns raised on June 16, and one of our surveyors visited on June 26 to investigate further and agree an action plan.

“Our dedicated resident liaison team provides a single point of contact for residents dealing with damp and mould and will be reaching out to ensure the resident is kept updated and that the issues are resolved as quickly as possible.”
