Leko agrees deal to join Welsh Premier League side Penybont

The winger has agreed a move to Wales

Former MK Dons winger Jonathan Leko has found a new home in the Welsh Premier League with Penybont.

The 27-year-old was a marquee signing for Dons in January 2023 when he arrived from Birmingham City. A year later though, he suffered a knee injury while on his debut on loan for Burton Albion which ruled him out for 16 months.

While he was offered a one-year extension to his contract, he made only one start for Paul Warne’s side last season, and it was one which he ended up getting sent off in. Released at the end of his contract in the summer, the former West Brom and Charlton man had been training with Notts County before agreeing a move with Penybont.

The Bont, formed 13 years ago when Bridgend Town and Bryntirion Athletic merged, currently sit third in the Welsh Premier League, having won three of their opening four games in the division.
