Milton Keynes safety seminar aims to empower women with skills to survive life-threatening situations
A safety seminar designed to help women improve their awareness, confidence and ability to identify potential risks is taking place in Milton Keynes on Thursday, October 29.
The One Step Ahead seminar will explore practical ways women can increase their safety and stay ‘one step ahead’ when travelling, walking and going about everyday life.
The seminar provides practical advice that women can apply to everyday situations, including identifying vulnerable locations, improving situational awareness, spotting warning signs and making safe decisions before a situation escalates.
Creator, Gary Payne said: “Every week, we read or hear about another assault on a women somewhere in MK.

“As the nights draw in, it is important to enhance your basic safety with the practical and effective skills from the One Step Ahead course.
“A huge part of the seminar is about empowering women with skills that can help them survive some of the common assaults that we know unfortunately happen.”
Based at Little Brickhill Village Hall, the event will run from 7pm to 9.30pm, and entry costs £5 per person.
Gary continued: “The course was first created over 20 years ago to support women in domestic violence. It has evolved over the years as a preventative measures approach to staying safe.
“Some of these situations are life threatening, so we tackle them head on and provide effective and easy to digest solutions.”
